Lens database updates requested for months!

Post Wed Jan 23, 2019 3:38 pm

I have made 2 requests to add lenses to the lens database, using the proper e-mail request method (cameras@pbase.com), and none of the lenses have been added. None of the e-mails were replied to either, so I'm not sure if the e-mail is still active or being monitored.

Can you please add the following lenses:
1. Sigma 16mm F1.4 Contemporary - link to site: https://www.sigmaphoto.com/16mm-f1-4-dc-dn-c (available in Sony E-mount, Micro 4:3 mount)

2. Sony SEL 18-135mm F3.5-5.6 OSS - link to site: https://www.sony.com/electronics/camera-lenses/sel18135 (available in Sony E-mount)

I seriously doubt, but would be gleefully excited if anyone from Pbase ever responds to a post here. We have seen Emily pop in an out over the years, but so infrequently the evidence could not be use in a court of law to prove her existence - at least not in these forums. Your best bet is to email support@pbase.com , but reports from others from the front lines have indicated that does not work either - especially for any new features or adding cameras to the database.
What you can do in the meantime while you slowly age and get even more frustrated waiting is to manually add the camera information to the images in a gallery using the old gallery edit mode. You can select all or some of the images in that gallery and using "Batch Update Selected Images in this Gallery " update the Camera and lens information there.

Bumping this up in hopes maybe after all the recent work done upgrading servers, increasing data allowances, and adding auto display sizes and swiping, that possibly some attention may now go back to updating the lens and camera databases. The two lenses I referenced below still haven't been added - and seems no Sony lenses since 2017 and no Sigma lenses since 2016 have been added.

I've been adding the lens descriptions manually in the gallery edit, but would be nice if the lenses themselves could be added too.

Thanks a lot Emily, but, still, the Canon 70-300 f/4-5.6 IS II USM is not in the DB of the lenses. I kindly asked for it for well over a year, here and via support@pbase.com. This lens was introduced on 15 September 2016, almost 3 years ago(!) and is a best seller, quite deservedly. So close optically to the heavy L white lens, and yet so portable. I still use it with the EF-RF adapter on my EOS-RP.

Now that we have the EOS-R line, we also would love to have the RF lenses in the DB, especially the RF 24-104 L IS, what is frequently offered as a kit lens and could be the most used RF lens these days.
