How to add shadow on border?

Post Mon Jan 12, 2004 4:47 pm

Saw this gallery posted by a member on other topic..and wondering how to add that 'shadow effect' around the picture on the border like this one:

How do we do that in PS? Thanks.

You need a picture with two layers. Right click the top layer and select blending options play around in the pop up screen until you get the effect you want

If it is not enough I will try to write a full description

I wrote an action but if I remember.....

1.) Open photo and rename background layer (must do)
2.) Create a new layer
3.) Drag new layer below renamed backgrnd layer
4.) Turn off renamed backgrnd layer
5.) Click on new layer and then increase canvas size 10% (H&V)
6.) Make foregound color white then use paint bucket tools to fill layer
7.) Turn on the renamed backgrnd layer
8.) Right click on renamed backgrnd layer and select blending options
9.) Click on 'drop shadow' then adjust to taste

You can save all layer as *.psd file.

I prefer to put a narrow black border (2px) using the stroke command under edit before starting the steps above. You have to select the entire image first. Have fun!

Thanks :D
We have a saying in Hebrew that goes something like "work of the righteous is done by others"
You saved me the time!

BTW I never thought of the stroke command so I will give it a try
