A panorama gallery using Pblog template

Post Fri Jul 13, 2007 12:10 pm

Inspired by what Cesar Fernandez has done at:
http://www.pbase.com/wildnature/panoramas

I have been working on creating a panorama gallery using the pblog template, so I can display medium sized thumbnails. I wish I also had Cesars amazing photographic skills to go along with my gallery, but I'll have to keep trying and learning.

I'm still working on it, but here's what I have come up with so far:
http://www.pbase.com/flemmingbo/panoramas

What do you think? I have chosen to hide all text etc. except for title because I want the gallery to look as close as possible to my other galleries, except for the medium sized thumbs.

regards,

Flemming

Very nice work you've done !
It's clean & organized. I like it.
It's a good idea to use the pblog template for panos.
I guess I'll test such a display.

Cheers, Nicolas.

How did you change thumbnail size and get rid of the Text boxes?

I am using the pblog template for this gallery - that's how you get medium sized thumbnails (it's the only way!).

I got rid of the text using css - you're welcome to have a look at my css for this page and use whatever you like.

I'm using a pblog template in a somewhat similar fashion. Black background instead of white, though. One of the things I don't like, however, is being limited to the 12 images per page. I understand the original intent, but sort of prefer more per page or just one page. That reminds me to reduce the number of images as my gallery is a little unwieldy at 138 or so images. I'm beginning to reach my limit anyway, so hard decisions are in order to lighten the load.

I just did some work on this again, have a look:

I now have the panorama gallery looking very close to my other galleries, incl. the thumbnails - and I have the lovely medium sized thumbs for my panos!

You're more than welcome to borrow my css code if you like, I'd like to be credited though if you do use my code :)

I only wish we could get rid of the 12 images per page limit on the pblog, hate those page breaks!

For larger 'thumbnails' that can produce very slow loading pages for
people which would not be helpful for keeping visitors...
