What H4 stands for and what do .sp, .ma,.sb &Co mean?

Hello, everybody!
I know in this forum there are real experts, who kindly try to explain to ignorant people like me also what is very basic for them.
Keep in mind, please, that English is not my mother tongue, so I might sound even dumber than what I’m in reality because of this “technical handicapâ€

Hi Marisa,

Have a look at the excellent unofficial Pbase wiki. There's a great section about playing with css at http://pbasewiki.srijith.net/howto/playing_with_css

I have found that by far the easiest way to learn which elements of the Pbase css does what is to use Firefox with the web developer plugin - demonstrated in the link above.

I can't remember where header 4 - H4 - is used, but most of the other ones you mention are used on your profile page.

Hope this helps, feel free to ask away all you want to!

regards, Flemming

In some style sheets I have found mysterious things…

.sp
.ma
.sb
.mi
.co
.me
.wb

This is description of classes used in CSS.
A sample:
1. in CSS
Code: Select all
.wb { font-color: blue; font-size: 24px; }

2. in HTML
Code: Select all
<font class=wb>the test</font>

I’m afraid my bad knowledge of English technical language didn’t allow me to be clear in my question.
If you are so kind to read my above answer to Flemming, maybe you’ll see what my problem is.
Of course I looked on Google before and I found exactly the same lines you kindly mentioned, but I could not relate them with what I would have liked to know in this specific case ( Style sheets for Pbase galleries)

I know H4 is a description of classes in CSS, but my question was about the exact area it controls in style sheet we can adopt on Pbase, as H2 controls the title of a gallery and .font controls the titles under the thumbnails, just to make two examples.
Thank you for trying to help me
All the best
Marisa

It's quite possible that the HTML generated by PBase doesn't use H4 (orH5 or H6) at all. I don't think I have come across it, and many of the default stylesheets (alexc etc) don't make any reference to it.

Of course, any user can use <h4> themselves if they want, within the description part of their galleries. So an individual user might add some formatting to <h4> tags within their CSS. For that reason you might come across references to h4 in some stylesheets.
