Navigation Buttons (Luis Borruel)....can't find a start!

I've done topic searches and combed through old posts and I cant find the code to get started with. Even the topic a few clicks down doesn't yield any useable results.

Strangely enough I had in my mind very similar buttons to this user....but I can't get an email back from him. http://www.pbase.com/rfcd100

Might somebody out there be gracious enough...and pBase users almost always are....to give me a jumping off point and suggestions on the navigation buttons? It seems as though the code needs to go in the gallery description box and not in a .css sheet....is that correct?
