Time for a change?

Post Thu Sep 13, 2007 4:55 pm

Hi all,

With all the changes in Pbase, and the slideshow becoming official, I feel old with my constant design for my pbase site. I like it a lot but just bored. And I might have some time over the weekends now. :)

What do you all think? Should I change it?
Main goal: I want people visiting it to be drawn to a theme of Travel. I love to travel, photograph and write about it, so I want that to come through.
Secondary goal: I want people to spend time on the site. I put in a lot of effort sometimes too much to write about each place and in some galleries like England and Scotland, almost even on each photo. I find this useful for me as I learn a lot so I thought it would be good for others too.

Any ideas?

Thanks a lot,
Karthik

Karthik,
I'd never seen this one and, personally, I like it a lot as it is!

Certainly not your run of the mill pbase front page or template-style one
that some of us are using.

If you HAVE to change anything, I'd think about the blue-green borders
around your text links to your galleries. They don't match well your grey
blue scheme.

On the other hand, I think the main grey background detracts from the
mystery and wonder of the colors of travel. Black may be old hat but it
sets colors off well. Others use white well, but that reminds me of flickr.

Maybe another font for the text links to travel galleries? but it is SO
CLEAN and so direct, as it is, that I like it. However, it has a dos-text
quality in a way and maybe that's a reason I like it. Simple and
straightforward and, quite a relief in some ways. And, it's even
readable! So many people put colorful text on dark backgrounds and
I can't read the text and while it's pretty the viewer reaction is
frustration, so this is attractive in that we can see where we might be
going when we click a link.
