save MS Word file as html file

Post Sat Feb 02, 2008 3:59 am

I created an html file to learn how to make a simple webpage.
I googled instruction for beginners, but failed to grasp and don't know Java.

1) How do you save MS Word as an html file?
2) How do you launch it using Firefox or IE?
3) A web page is a basic part of a website which requires a domain name?
4) Do you have to purchase a domain or just .com, .net or any name?
Thanks for helping.
What is " BBcode" and disable means what?

In word do File Save As then use the drop down under the filename to select the type of file as html. In firefox do file Open File then select the option for an html file. If you have images etc in the word doc they will be saved in a seperate folder with the html. You can open the html using notepad to see the html code.

Java is a programming language and you don't need to know it to create web pages. Javascript (often confused with Java) is a scripting language that expands the scope of web pages.

Your ISP will provide web space so you don't need a domain, unless you want one. If you buy a domain from godaddy.com (or similar) their pages will allow you to point to the pages you create on your ISP web space.

BBcode is the code that runs the forums. To disable BBcode means you are disable the code options available above the forum post box. Pretty pointless really.
