Wishlist: Thumbnail captions

Small thumbnail captions, including for thumbnails which are link to another gallery, would help make galleries much easier to read and navigate. Please? From what I've read it isn't possible with the current format.

I don't quite understand your request. How is this different from the titles that currently appear under thumbnails?

The title under the thumbnail is only a title, and it is a single wrapped line of text. What I want is a caption - a couple of lines of extra information to explain the contents of each gallery which is not part of the title.

Something like this (if the text will format correctly)

For my gallery http://www.pbase.com/bkrownd/hawaiian_plants I'd like to have only the family name as the (short!) title of each subgallery, and then under each subgallery title also have 1-4 lines of caption, with one line containing the 'English' name of the family, and the next two lines of the caption be a longer list of the Hawaiian names of the individual plants within the family. Perhaps another line for an additional note. Right now all that info is jammed into the subgallery title, in a single randomly wrapped line which is not very clear to read. I can't fit everything in there that I'd want to without it becoming a complete mess.

It's possible with images but I don't know if it works with galleries.

If you edit the gallery, go to advanced and click "show captions" you get the image captions displayed with the thumbnails.

Don't know if this works for galleries though so maybe this doesn't help you very much, sorry.
