looking to spice things up a little

Post Tue Apr 01, 2008 7:34 pm

Hello
I'm looking to "spice up" my page a little more using basic HTML. Is this possible or is the CSS code really the only way to do this? Nothing crazy - maybe just an overall banner code or something?

I'm also trying to figure out how to put writing to the right (or left) of the centered slideshow, like in paragraph format?

Thanks :)

Hello Lauren,

Have a look at my gallery for some inspiration, http://www.pbase.com/flemmingbo - I have customized and 'hacked' my Pbase gallery and profile page about as much as the system allows :D It's just plain html and css all the way.

As for putting text to the right or left of the slideshow it's certainly possible. You need to create a layout on the page using either tables in html or DIVs in CSS. If you look at my front page it's all done by CSS, but it's also very easy to create a small table in your header with two cells and you could put the slideshow in one and text in the other.

regards,

Flemming

Hi Flemming - Thanks for your tips!! I played around with things a little bit, and while still very simple, I like the table/border that I put together. You were a big help :)

Any other recommendations?

Glad to help and yeah your table looks great !!

My recommendation would just be to browse lots and lots of Pbase galleries and get inspired by the many different designs. There's a thread somewhere in this html forum with a collection of root gallery designs. Try a search for 'root gallery design' I think you'll find it.

best regards,

Flemming
