Gallery title removal

Post Sun Apr 06, 2008 1:32 pm

Can anyone help me to remove the gallery title and other galleries at the top of a gallery page??? I want to replace it with a photo with my name and gallery title on.

Hi Steve,

You can get rid of the links to the other sub galleries by de-selecting 'sub galleries' link to other under "advanced" in gallery edit mode.

As for keeping a gallery title but not having it displayed, just edit your css and add this:

Code: Select all
H2
{
  display:none;
}

best regards,

Flemming

Flemming you're a top banana. Except I know nothing about style sheets. All the web page work I've done has been in Dreamweaver where you drag and drop and the code is taken care of for you. OK I can fix the galleries now, but I've used a standard style sheet you can choose from the drop down menu. How do I edit it and add the code you've given me??

Thanks mate, cool bananas as people in Adelaide say :D

Have a look at the link Dang posted to get started on CSS editing. It would be possible to 'hack' a solution into the gallery description that would hide the title if you really really really don't want to mess with CSS. But have a look at the link first, it's great fun to be able to totally customize the look of your page!

Wow - that was a fantastic link - got the tools now and I'm looking forward to a play. The only bit I didn't quite follow was the end bit. You click select all and copy your CSS then "paste it into the usual PBase interface for CSS changes". I'm not too sure where that goes.
What I'm trying to do is put a picture in the header like I've seen on other pbase galleries. I've created the photo with titles at 800 pixels across and saved it. If I can get rid of the header title, I hope I can somehow put the photo into the description on the gallery!

When you edit galleries - next to the drop down box for style sheet there's a "edit style sheets" link. This takes you to the edit your stylesheets page where you can create a new stylesheet. When you've created the new stylesheet and you're editing it - just delete everything and copy and paste everything from the web developer window and save the new stylesheet. Then back to edit gallery and choose your own new stylesheet in the drop down box! Voila! hopefully :D

Re. the title - what you're describing is exactly how it's done, you paste html in the description. Look a few posts below this, I just helped someone else with the same question. If you can't find it let me know.

Hope it works out, let me know if there's anything I can do!!! And welcome to the wonderful (and sometimes slightly frustrating hehe!) world of CSS !

Top, top banana!! Finally, that explains it!!!!! When I clicked Edit style sheet I couldn't understand why I couldn't edit the alexc sheet I'd chosen. it's because you can only edit your own style sheets.
I've now seen how to add the pano at the top as well. My only final point is if you upload your pano into a hidden gallery to use in your header, will people see it in their favourite photos of your work??

Yep, you can only edit your own sheets - glad it worked for you.

If you upload to a hidden gallery...I am fairly certain that no, this will not show up anywhere, it will not show up in your recent galleries etc if the gallery itself is hidden.

Look forward to see your new gallery look! :D

Thanks so much for your help, Flemming. I know where to come now to speak to a Guru. I most certainly am going to get stuck in. Oh, and thanks to Dang for the link!
Cheers
