Problems with PBlog style sheets

Post Thu Jan 01, 2009 9:43 am

Happy new year to everybody!
After fighting for a rather long time with – for me- the hard and complicated style-sheet universe I have to give up and to accept I cannot find the missing point.
So I’m here to ask you for help, thanking in advance.
The problem is related with Blog style sheet.
I can manage usual style sheet style template, but blog ones are still mysterious...
I have tried to elaborate the scripts offered by PBase, and I’m rather satisfied with the results as I can see them using IE.
Then I checked them with Firefox and I found bizarre things I cannot understand how to solve.

If you have a little time, please check this page in IE and Firefox
http://www.pbase.com/mardoli/story_teller
In IE the look is like I intended it to be, while in Firefox the fonts of the caption of thumbnails are enormous and refuse to accept any control to be changed...
If I try to change the value in
DIV.image_caption
It has effect in IE, but absolutely no effect in Firefox.
I have tried to change all possible font values, but in Firefox it seems nothing can have effect on the fonts of the thumbnail image caption.
My second question is related to another style-sheet for Pblog which has been elaborated and works well in IE, while in Firefox the image appears sometimes ( and only sometimes and this is the very strange thing!) all on the left side, because the small block where it’s written”(view full statistics) and purchase this image” –visible only if one is logged in, is on the top right, instead of at the bottom of the page and pushes the image to the left.
What is amazing is that it doesn’t happen with all the images of the same gallery, but only sometimes.
For example now I can see this problem here
http://www.pbase.com/frimpong/image/107449895
and here
http://www.pbase.com/frimpong/image/107565499
while the image appears well centred here
http://www.pbase.com/frimpong/image/107492095
and here
http://www.pbase.com/frimpong/image/107457786

I’m more than puzzled...I’m sure the missing point is under my eyes, but I cannot see it.
I’m grateful for all possible suggestion and help
Best
Marisa

Oh well, just to inform you...
I have found what created the problems of the enormous fonts which I could not control in FireFox...
After getting mad on style-sheet...I found out that what created the problem, for mysterious reason was a stupid scrolling text marquee...
I deleted it and immediately the font became under control.
Still I don’t know the reason, but it’s good like that!
The other problem remains...
Still I see in FireFox only some images all moved to the left side of the page instead of being centred...
Of well, I’ll get made still for a while, and then I’ll give up!!!
Have a wonderful day
Marisa

Hello again :)

Your #imagepage div doesn't have a width - so it's simply as wide as the widest text on the page. Meaning that it's wider on a page with lots of description and narrow on a page with little text.

It's simple when you look at it but sometimes one can't see the forrest for all the trees - I know the feeling very well!

Solution: simply add a width to #imagepage, something like

width:90%;

should do great

Hope this helps!

Flemming, if you didn't exist, they should invent you!
Of course it was exactly that the missing point!
Thank you so much!
All the best
