Is anyone else having problems changing the background colours on their galleries? I put in an RGB with #9C661F for example and I get the completely same dark green all the time

Please help

Haven't done any editing lately, but have you tried lower case for the alpha characters? I know gallery names have to be lower case and there may be some case sensitivity.
