Dang these are nice shots Gene. That 100-400L glass sure does the job. Of course, the person holding the camera had something to do with it as well. :D

I like this one too http://www.pbase.com/image/24633621

Just out of curiosity, do you shoot from a blind?

Thanks for sharing

Magnificent! I voted for the one Chuck likes and also for the one Gene posted...IMO those are the best of a bunch of gorgeous pics! Since there are three of us here raving about these, they should show up with at least 3 votes each on the pop list tomorrow, right? Hope everyone remembers to put his vote where his mouth is, so to speak. :)

I have never even seen an eagle except at the aviary...sniff. When is the best time to see them on the Mississippi between Iowa and Illinois? I have heard that they come through there, but don't know when.

No, no blind. Just Standing there, eagles flying about. The latter images of the eagles were taken standing on a boat ramp which the eagles flew over between a dam, where they caught fish, and a stand of trees, where they ate them.

Thanks,
Gene

I missed the good shots! There were several of us and one flew right overhead with a huge fish while I was visiting the restroom :(

They should still be there in Feburary. My understanding is they start heading north mid Feburary.

Sorry, I managed to miss this post. Thanks! Best time to visit is about now, the popluation peaks about the end of January I think. This is from around La Claire at lock and dam 14. They fish at the dam and eat them in the trees behind the parking lot so a lot of times they pass right overhead.

Posted a number more I finally got around to tonight.

Cheers, Gene
