My first attempt at Still Life

Great work as always Geoff. The dof in "Spoon" makes a very interesting view and "cotton buds" is probalby one of the most original abstacts I've seen. With few exceptions all the shots are great BUT I'm afraid there's something I really don't like in the "screws" shots! The reddish surface kind of ruins it for me, especially since theres no "top" lighting. Perhaps a more earthy tone so you could also use the reflextion and a 3 light setup! But hey I'm no expert, i could be dead wrong about everything.
Just an additional little note, when I started doing still life and asked for comments I got some great ones but also got some I just ignored, bottom line being if you like the shot and it works for you then why change it?

Thanks for your comments Polyvios. I agree with you entirely. The screw shots were taken a year ago and were just experimental. I've learnt a lot since then. I have now deleted those from the gallery as I think the gallery looks much more balanced without them. Thanks for your help.

And no, you're not being too critical - it's what photography is all about.

I was looking all over for you screw shot and didn't see it...now I know why. I really like this gallery. Everything is very crisp and clean, I like it a lot. Good Job
