Stills & Zoo

Post Tue Feb 17, 2004 4:17 pm

Hi everyone!

I went to the zoo on Sunday and took some pictures. I would like to get some feed back on them. Simply put, what's good and what's bad from a "technical" point of view, like composition, exposure, etc. Of course, I don't mind, if you tell me what picture you like and which not, just because of what it looks like ;) The link is http://www.pbase.com/cariarer

Thanks, Marco... aka. cariarer

my only advice would be to zoom in on the animals more, if you can., to try to avoid having too much negative space around them. this might also eliminate some of the cage bars that appear. i think 3085 would be good, but the cage is distracting. the tiger ones on the other hand, are more like portraits and i really like them. they don't neccessarily announce that they were taken in a zoo. i really like the one with the two ducks (3025 i think) i think the negative space there works well because of the texture of the water surface and the colors.

looks like you had a nice day for shooting. lucky you. all snow and cold here :(

Longer Lens...

I know what you mean. I would like to get a Tamron Teleconverter 1.4x, but my budget is not allowing that at the momet :?

I'm actually lucky to got any photo's at all, since my microdrive decided to corrupt the file allocation table when I got back, leaving me only with garbage. Luckily, I was able to recover it, using a restore tool.

Sunday was nice over here indeed. Though I find, that snow and ice has also it's charming sides (at least from a scenic point, not so much of the damn cold  ). I will do an excursion to the airport next weekend and maybe try to get some pictures from people of the street.

ack! glad you were able to recover your files. me, i'd have been completely lost and probably given up hope.

and i hear you about the converter. we have the 100-400 and still always wish we had a little more reach. darn those budget constraints

I think for zoo images

They aren't bad. The lighting on some of the animals is very nice. I think with a little cropping you could bring the animals out a little more.
