Landscape Lovers : Banff National Park

Post Fri Apr 02, 2004 1:31 am

Many years ago I travelled through this gorgeous national park in Alberta, Canada and shot roll after roll of film. Recently, I undertook the tedious task of scanning many of these shots using a Canon FS4000 film scanner. To my disappointment, the results were very dissatisfying. :( Way to much noise existed to even consider presenting them on this site. I was about to give up on the project when a friend recommended a noise reduction software package called NeatImage to me. It was with the upmost skepticism that I decided to give it a try but I must say, I was amazed with the results. :D

I invite you to have a look at my gallery and give your opinion of the results. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated!

Guy:

Very nice gallery. Neat Image seemed to work well for you as the images appear clean (to the extent that it can be discerned from a web page). Did you find the software easy to use? I've also read good things about Noise Ninja, but have not yet tried either program.

great shots guy. looks like a gorgeous park.

we have both neat image and noise ninja. i've heard that noise ninja retains more detail but i haven't yet figured out how to use it so i stick with neat image. seems to be working well for you as well.

Thank you both for the comments. I found Neat Image very simple to use. A couple of minutes of reading and I was off and running. I do still need to spend a little more time to figure out the finer aspects of the software. I'm pretty sure I haven't achieved the optimum results, but its close enough for now. I also like the fact that the pro version comes with a photoshop plugin. I don't believe Noise Ninja has that.
