How is your gear organized?

Post Sun Apr 18, 2004 7:48 pm

I don't carry all of this all the time, of course. But this is how it is stored at the house or for long distance travel in the car or on a plane. Usually I just carry the camera an extra battery and maybe one other lens in a smaller go bag.

Never carry any more than you can eat

 Simplicity works for me.
I never carry any more than I can squeeze into my pockets
since some of the neighborhoods I visit can be a good place
to be relieved of your gear!

I usually carry a small remote, extra batteries
and media cards and one or two filters along with my trusty
Olympus C-5050.
Seems to work for me.
- DC

Camera with chosen lens in shoulder bag that doesn't look like it's worth stealing. Maybe an extra lens or two in jacket pockets. Extra CFs and battery in inside pocket beside wallet.

At home everything just lying around on my desk.

I'm a messy person.

Where I go dictates what I bring along. When shooting in the city, its just a small shoulder bag with the camera and lens I need. When I'm on vacation at a scenic location, I often times haul the kitchen sink out with me. Basically, that's a backpack like yours, Lance, with a few lenses, filters, spare battery, tripod, etc. Over the course of a 5-6 mile hike, I get quite a workout! My friends think I'm nuts, but I'd hate to miss a great shot because I didn't have the proper equipment out with me. Especially when you pay so much for that proper equipment!!

At home, I fear that I may rival Anna in the messy department!

Messy? Who's messy?

My husband tells me to put it all away...I tell him is "strategically located" for easy access.

Only time its organized is when we are going off on a long hike in the woods. And yes it does get heavy. Close to home it's bare essentials.

Not only strategically located, you need to have everything within eyesight so you don't forget what you own. Silly to buy 2 300/2.8L IS lenses if you happen to forget you already own one 8)

Husbands are very good accessories for taking along on long hikes. I use mine for carrying the tripod and the Lowepro backpack. I like to travel light myself.
