Critique Please...

Post Sat May 22, 2004 8:16 am

Recently took my 10D out for a spin in Bryce Canyon, and came across
a lovely little shadowed canyon. There were some wonderfull trees in
this wildly colorful slot - and spent about an hour photographing them.

Take a look at these two images and let me know what you think -
positive and negative (critical) replies welcome. I'm looking for outside
opinions on these images...

I like the basic shots... But, everything looks real soft to me. Almost not focused. I know that they are but I just think the pics could of been a little more sharp.

Are these soft to anyone else?...

I'm wondering if you've looked at the 'original' size of the images,
I think it is rather sharp, but low in contrast.

I agree - the reduced sizes are a bit soft. I'm wondering, do these
images (original size) appear soft to anyone else?

They were taken at quite long exposures - tripod mounted - so
some shake is possible.

Thanks for the comments!

You're right. The original is sharp.

I like the first one better, almost abstract. I like the way you used the natural lines. Nice use of light, shadow, and color.

I don't care for the symmetry in the second. Although it has potential.
