Just to remind you all of what my mother used to tell me when I was a few years younger

A comment a day keeps the doctor away

That was a small hint :D

Please guys, I am not that good that you can not find what to say. I have another big concert to shoot at the end of August and I want to know how to do it better.

Thanks

This is very helpful though getting closer to the stage is an understatement he seems to be in their mouth :D

Hi Ilan...I'm the person who took the photos that Nick posted.

My suggestion is definitely get closer to the stage - you don't usually want to see the backs of people's heads in photos of a band :)

Not sure what kind of equipment you're using, but try to avoid using flash if at all possible - or if you must use flash, try to bounce it and/or use an external flash.

What show are you shooting in August?

Hi Shell

I appreciate the trouble you took to post this.

It's a heavy metal rock band called Salem. http://www.salemband.com

I am expecting to have access to the stage or at least close to it. I have been trying to avoid using a flash but that is not always possible, bouncing is never an option as all the walls are black. I like using the stage lights as that also adds to the atmosphere.

Ear plugs are a must

Thanks again I enjoyed looking at your gallery

This one is outdoors so again abouce flash was not an option :(

Hi,
ok closer or higher up than crowd, use flash to fill and available light, and perhaps a faster film or push what you have to the extreme then tell the lab you pushed it, unless you shoot digital then just crank the ISO, shoot wide open... jump on stage and use a wide angle lense, or on a chair with a zoom, or on a fellow headbanger shoulders and move up... bring a ladder if you can, the club usually will understand if you look like a pro they'll treat you like one... just get in there and don't let the punks get ya....
