Am I Losing It?

Post Wed Jul 28, 2004 4:11 am

this is a picture i took of my pool while trying to finish a roll to get it developed sooner.

for some reason, i'm incredibly drawn to it...i dunno why, but i just love this picture and i think it has a lot of feeling in it for some strange reason.

i dunno...tell me what you think, please, and let me know if i'm going crazy or not.

:D i know the feeling too....there're photos that seems simple and ordinary, but somehow it drew an incredible feeling for the looker... my opinion, when the picture was taken, the photographer felt a deep emotion that in one second when he/she pushed the button, somehow the feeling stays forever in the picture... so don't worry, ur definetly not loosing it :D

Yep... It happens. Not all the time, but sure it happens. Sadly only you can enjoy the picture that much... Photography is a lonely art sometimes.

This is a very nice image ... nice composition and tones ... interesting reflections. I can see why you are attracted to it.

I think sometimes we take photos and there is an emotional element that we ( the photographer ) attach to the image, that isn't shared by the viewer of that photo simply because they weren't a part of the emotional make up. It might be your favourite location or a reminder of a great day or wonderful person - something that has emotional meaning to us (good or bad!.

So a photo might look exceptional to us (the photographer) but it might be loaded emotionally. Not saying that is the case here - this is just someting that I try to be aware of when I'm trying to edit my own pics ...
:D

I understand but I personally don´t agree... I mean; there´re some pictures that we just like, without racional explanation. It happens very few times, but it happens. No feelings and no personal attachment, just like it.

yeah...i agree with matis, sometimes without any reasons at all, one can totally be emotionaly moved. i think the great master like ansel and cappa succesfully put that elements in most of their photos by being totally drowned in their subject...just keep taking picture with all ur heart, and hopefully we could share the feeling to the viewers :D
