I like the tight crop with first car cutoff, it shows action to me.

I felt the same way, 2 as well.
Interesting that the photo guys generally choose 2, but people who aren't as photo insane or who aren't that into cars or racing seem to choose 1 more, as they think it shows more excitement and action.

I am choosing for a submission to a mag, so I guess it would come down to which reader I think I am aiming at.

Breaking from the crowd, I would choose 1. I like the addition of the cool-looking sky. I also think the subject is more readily apparent.

For some reason I preffer the rest of your images than these two. But, if I have to choose, I would go for the first one, mostly because of the sky effect on the composition.

Ps. Your gallery is really good, specially the motion pictures.
