Landscapes: Posted gallery of Skardu - Suggestions welcome

Just posted a new gallery of Skardu.

Opinions and suggestions such as to remove, crop or rearrange some photos are welcome.

While not as visually stunning as you Deosai Plains pictures, still very interesting. As far as cropping goes the only one I would consider cropping is the one you offer as a sample here. How good are you with an image editor like Photoshop or Paint Shop Pro? If you cropped out just the tower you won't loose too much of the mountain in the foreground. Then airbrush out the wall.

I would probably put all the mountain shots together, the village shots together and the people shots together within that gallery.

And I have to tell you that when I first looked at the "Island Village in the Indus River" picture, I thought "what a weird place for a golf course", until I looked a little closer.

Again, nice shooting and thank you for showing me a portion of the world I will probably never ever see. It is very beautiful there.

Hi Bob, Thanks for taking the time to first see the gallery and then give some detailed and useful suggestions.

I had also thought about removing the tower, but was just being lazy and wondering if people would evne notice it. Well you obviously did as it was large as life.

Anyhow it is gone now as is the wall. Not the best of jobs, but it did the trick somewhat.

Bunched the mountains together as well. Makes good house keeping.

PS I loved the trip to "Deosai" and the photos as well. I have probably just added too many photos and in the process they lose their impact. Ideally perhaps I should delete 25% at least if not more.

I thought you did an excellent job on it. A good picture is now a great one.

I figure I will just keep adding to my gallery til I fill it up and then start replacing photos where I have over posted a particular theme keeping just the best. It is a continuous work-in-process.

At the rate I am going that will not take long. I am a big race fan (Nascar), so expect a flood of racing pictures in the next few weeks.

Yesterday I did the tourist thing and walked around the US Capital building taking pictures. I can't decide whether I like the color or black or white shots so I posted both. Here is the link to the gallery. If you get a chance, check them out and let me know which you like.

Hi Bob,

I prefered one in B & W and another in color. Left comments on the specific photos.

Anna left a suggestion that I should sprinkle the people photos into the set of the mountains to make them a bit lively. Now I am confused of course.

Only thing I can fault is the CSS! It's annoying when you mouse over the thumbnail border changes size...

The CSS is the "style sheet" you select when editing the gallery.

Thanks for the detailed input. I agree the way the style sheet responds when you run your mouse over the pic is not ideal. I'll try to fix it.

I think if this:

yes, it kind of looks like your galleries are having convulsions if you get the mouse in the right spot. It was actually quite entertaining...at first.

As far as the order of your galleries, I don't think there is a right answer here. To me when I was looking at the mountain scapes you had a certain feeling going there, then you switched to smiling people shots and then back to mountain shots.

Quite frankley I wouldn't worry about it. I just bunch my in together. It is just that you asked us about arrangement and i thought of that. Either way the photos are still good.

Thanks for the heads up on the Style Sheet. It works well, though it is now less "entertaining".
