Shooting from the hip (or chest or shoulder...)

I've recently tried candid street shots by shooting while holding my camera by my side, or at my chest. The wide-angle (17mm) lens is prefocused at 1m (abt 3 ft) and set at f/11 or 16, giving depth of field from 0.5m (abt 1.5 ft) to infinity.

It's always interesting to come home, load them up on the PC and see what I've captured! I've seen some shots like these in this forum, but would like to start a thread for it.

This one's taken from the hip. Didn't realise until later that he has a badge with "The pointer" on his jacket. Maybe he spends all day just pointing....
