Lunar Eclipse?

Post Thu Oct 28, 2004 10:28 am

Here's a collage of moon photos from last night's lunar eclipse ... My Minolta A1 has a 7x optical zoom and I'd like to be a bit closer to the moon than that, but I haven't found the stairway to heaven, a legitimate teleconverter for the A1, or even my lost shaker of salt ... Can we see other lunar eclipse photos from 10/27/04?

Your Minolta did great! Our area was clouded over.

I was lucky to have a clear sky and I did a whole serie between 20:00 and 01:15 EDT. The shots were taken with my Olympus C-5050 handheld in front of and old Celestron scope with a 15X60 eyepiece.

Here is the 21:22 shot :

Here are a few shots from Boston last night with my D70, 70-300 My biggest problem was focusing on the moon! My auto focus wouldn’t work so I used the manual, but it was so hard to see if I had the moon in focus. Most of my pictures were slightly out of focus, I’m sure the wind didn’t help.

This was the best I could do with my equipment (Digital Rebel, 70-200mm zoom lens, tripod):

I was in Boston (well actually Arlington) last night too experiencing the same problems. :) I spent a lot of time not just trying to get the sharpest focus manually, but also just trying to center the moon in the viewfinder, a feat that had to be repeated every few minutes.
