New galleries added to "cyberbook" on travel photo

I added two new galleries to my instructional galleries on pbase this evening -- Gallery 18 on Light and the Landscape, shot in Yosemite, and Gallery 19, on a Sense of Place, shot in the Bodie Ghost Town. I also added new images from Yosemite and the Eastern Sierra to the begining of nearly every other gallery as well. In all I posted 60 new images tonight for your comments, and questions. I look forward to hearing from you.

I spent a very long time last evening reading and viewing Gallery 18. I plan to go back there and to the others too. I will visit many times as it is soothing, inspiring and a learning experience. I have so much to learn. I am an infant in photography and you are a giant.

It was a great weekend in Yosemite. I enjoyed browsing through your galleries last night. The Bodie images only made me regret more not being able to make the trip. Your ability to see what others miss is wonderful. The teaching aspect of your galleries will inspire me and others to strive for improvement in this art form we have choosen.

Personally I find this one of the most provocative and generous resources on travel (and other) photography available on the web. Phil's willingness to "throw the whole thing open" and let all opinions in, for and against...is a very valuable portal to spend some time in....and a very generous place with a lot of space to discover your own vision and learn a great deal on the way. John, Vanita, Lisa --thanks for your kind words on my galleries. Please come there often to learn, and to share your views on expression with me. It was a great treat for Tim May and myself to work with John and Vanita Boyd and Dave Wyman in Yosemite last weekend -- there was something very special about five equally passionate pbase photographers spending a weekend shooting and sharing together in one of the most picturesque places on earth.

I forgot to mention in my previous post that pbase artist Tom Talbot was also in our Yosemite group last weekend. That makes six of us, often shooting the same things at the same time. It is fascinating to compare the ways that John, Vanita, Dave, Tom, Tim (when he gets back from his Mexico shoot) and myself each bring our own interpretations to bear on similar subject matter.
