Some Suggestions?

Ruby,

The baby is really really cute. Hard to find an ugly baby (okay, my mom tried to teach me to swim in a bag full of kittens, but otherwise...)

Pick up a book on beginning photography and read it. I am doing that, myself.

Some things I have learned:

1. Flashes are horrible lighting. Use natural light or other light but avoid that flash if you can.

2. Post the pics large enough so folks can see them. Try using about a 600 pixel largest dimension (as in 600X400 pixels). I cannot really tell much in most of your pictures.

3. Shoot in as high of quality as you can. That means if you are using a camera that only shoots jpgs, take it up to the fine or ultrafine setting. One of those shots may be so good you want to get it enlarged.

4. Each picture does not have to show the whole baby. Get in close and show us the eyes. Again, no flash, please!

5. Idea, try getting one of those cheap shop light holders, the aluminum reflector with a kind of squeeze clamp on it, put in a fluorescent bulb with an equivalent of 500 watts, put a thin piece of muslin in front of it. Use that to light the darling. It will be diffuse and strong enough for you to use without a flash.

Keep shooting and do try to make every picture count.

Sincerely offered, a beginner myself,
Ellsworth Weaver

They are perfectly good snapshots to show family and friends what a cute child you have. Art, it is not. neovolatile gave you some good advice when you are ready to take this to the next level. Definately take some outdoor shots and definately make the pictures larger. (don't blow them up with a graphics editor cause they will just get pixelated.)

What sort of camera are you using. Does it have a zoom (optical)? If so try backing up from the child a little and then zooming in. The flash will not be as harsh.
