Dang!

Post Fri Oct 29, 2004 12:55 am

How do I single anybody out? There are so many excellent photographers on PBase, and I like different artists for different reasons. Picking a favorite (or favorites) seems so unfair, especially when I know I haven't come close to visiting all of you or even all of your galleries.

I will say this though - I am not shy about leaving comments, and I let people know what images I like! I also vote, though I don't usually tell you that I've voted (though you can assume if I've left a comment, I have probably voted as well). Lately I have started mentioning my votes (if I remember) because I get the impression that some people want to know.

There is so much praise-worthy photography here on PBase! Don't be shy with your comments (even one word will be appreciated) and loosen up your voting finger - no need to be stingy!

Shine on! 8)

Bruce, now you're one of my favourite photos. Great work! Make want to burn all my films, sell my cameras and find a new hobby. Probably because you're gifted with storm eyes while we mere mortals only have human eyeballs. :D

Cheers,
Kris

After thinking it I decided that I must add some names...: (this time friendship is allowed)

Dominic Kite, specially the landscape work and because no two pictures are the same on his stuff.
Cesar Junior´s Floral arrangement because the display & composition is amazing.
Phil Douglis who happens to have a very special way to enjoy & share pictures.
Gina because of the stunning colors.. just like that.
Andrés H. because he´s a friend (yup.. it matters) and because I really envy the tones he always get.
Barri because the guy creates a very good B&W. Same reasopn but with different result forces us to include Bruce B. who plays with Abstract Monochrome.
Arjun.. have you seen the Landscapes?
Dsouzl because put in good use all that Photoshop stuff.
Lynn who has a very special sense of reality & common life through the lens.
Daniel Faria because He has developed a sense of beauty in the common things of my land. He´s a Must.
Anabela Gabriel-Astrom specially the abstract work.

And mister Erich Mangl who happens to be a very interesting human being. I´m not sure if he´s real.

The list can go on & on & on so I´ll stop right here... The rest will be kept in the intimacy of my own needs & tastes.

Nice thread -- lots of great artists here. Keep my browser busy for a while! One of my favorites who I didn't see mentioned yet:

I love this guys work. It is not just my opinion. This guy is a member of my camera club and he is a consistant winner. His strength seems to be his creativity in composing interesting shots.

Another favorite of mine is:

Some very interesting thought processes went into some of his shots particularly the gallery "Just for fun"

And finally: http://www.pbase.com/pstewart/profile

She does some of the best work I have seen with children.

One of My New Favorites: Toni Moore

Must admit, I am a sucker for humor and for Edward Gorey.

Toni Moore puts more than just capturing images up here: she puts her wicked sense of humor into it.

Hoping someday to be on this list, myself,

Neil Buchan-Grant's Great Britain gallery only has a few photos, but man, this is the good stuff - some of the finest landscapes you'll see. I just wish he would explain how he did it.

I've got to go with Phil Douglis....his photos, commentary, and discussions have taught me so much about photography, composition, and how to see through the camera (instead of just how to look...) It's like taking a college level photography course from a master professor...and you don't even have to pay the tuition!

I don't know that everyone would have the same tastes, I'm a sucker for landscapes, etc. and people.

But these are two that I've enjoyed and they've highlighted some areas that I'll probably never get to.
