On the duck the bright light has virtual removed any detail from the rear of the duck. Pay attention to your Histograms.
It seems on both flowers you need a little more depth of field as you don't seem to have the entire flower in sharp focus.
I thought the lavender flower to by itself to rather uninteresting as there is not much detail for the eye to lock onto. On the other hand I found the white flower with the orange and black highlights to be a far superior picture.
Also, when photographing flowers, the flower MUST be perfect. If it has a few tiny flaws, they can be overcome with a little Photoshop work. Anything less than perfect will become immediately noticable as is the case with the lavender flower and the dark mark in the lower right petal.
I agree with the others, keep shooting and get your stuff on Pbase where it is much easier to show off your work.
