Which of these two similar albeit somewhat different images do you find more effective/compelling? I can't decide which to keep or toss. The first obviously creates the necessary sense of being lost in a vast environment, but the second provides a better focus on the subject.
I prefer the first. It has more atmosphere, and is more pleasing to the eye. Despite the figure on the right being closer in the second, you cant really see any more detail, so it doesn't add anything to the picture after losing the scale. But then, why toss either? Buy a bigger hard drive
I would have to say #2, but without so much of the bottom. If you would crop off half of the floor, you would have a much stronger image.
The trouble with #1 is that there is too much of a juxtapostion between the vast hallway and the diminutive subject, who ends up getting lost in all that space.
I think you guessed it correctly...if you draw an imaginary line across the picture just above the nearest doorknob on the left to the other side you will be left with 14 hall lights down the corridor. This is the same number in the cropped version.
