Hi Joey, I'm not an expert by any means, but your gallery caught my eye. Your content is very well suited for B&W I think. I particularly like the first image "Path." "Alone" is good. If anything, I'd suggest a 'drearier' look to your barn shots. I'm not sure how best to describe it, but they feel a little 'bright' and I'm not getting the feeling of abandon that you're trying to capture. Perhaps some vignetting and darkening of the sky could help.
Your first picture of Olivia is great, I like the soft focus and shallow DOF. You'll do well with the 300D.
BTW, I thought your LOTR gallery was pretty cool too.
