Am I alone??

Post Tue Dec 30, 2003 6:33 am

Anyone else notice how the Popular Galleries have gone down the tubes? Not only do we have to wade through gallery after gallery by the same "artist", we now get to view such artistic things as how to repair a car, etc., etc., ad nausea. Viewing the Popular Galleries has become a waste of time. So much for the good stuff will rise to the top, eh, Don?

Ya, Chuck...why is that? I was wondering that very thing today. When I saw "tire plugs" in the pop list I figured something must be amiss. LOL!

I noticed it this other day – loads of galleries for home renovations (I think a renovation forum just found this site), galleries of cars or car parts, and galleries of peoples random snapshots....
I guess it is true Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

The 7day list sucks right now. Car parts, machine parts, broncoes, jimmys and generally sucky images after the first 24 image galleries for the most part.

Such little voting is going on lately the hack galleries with 2 and 3 votes are dominating the 7day list for the time being.

Only way to change this trend is to start voting for the good galleries again. Myself, I am not even shooting for the 7day list anymore. Just trying to inch my way up the 90day and all-time lists.

Yup, the 7day list is as bad as I have seen it. I actually made a post to this effect in politics yesterday but decided to deleted it instead. I guess some other folks noticed all of the crap on the 7day list and felt compelled to make a post here.

Happy Voting.

Just to give you an idea of how little voting is going on right now. Yesterday I spent 14 hours uploading new photos. Basically non-stop. I got over 26,000 views on my pbase gallery pages yesterday and basically no votes. :( Oh well, back to the grind today.

BTW....I counted between 100-200 horribly sucky galleries in the 7day list on my cruise through this morning. I stopped cruising through it after it looked like there would be no end to the non-sense galleries.

Just disregard the 7day board for a while I say. It means absolutely nothing.

Cheers

What a good point. From now on when I see a picture I like I'm going to vote for it. Let's vote

How can one tell how many votes their galleries or pics get? I don't see a place to check this.

The 7-day list doesn't have anything to do with individual pics, though. Just galleries. There is supposed to be a way to check on individual pic popularity, but the one time I tried it, nothing happened. Now I can't remember what to do, and don't know if that system is working anyway. I think it would be better to remove the "vote for this image" button if nothing comes of it. Maybe many people ARE voting, but just for individual images rather than galleries.

I have always voted a lot so it shocks me to think that so few folks take the time to vote for galleries they like. Unless the system is just buggy now or something. (?)

The system is not buggy...the people are.

One must deduce the number of votes they are getting by there change in ranks amoung the popular qalleries lists.

At this point the best thing to do would be to vote for galleries, not images. The system logs I think but it is not being utilized at this time. Smut images would probably rule the individual image vote wars if I were to venture a 10 cent guess.

So vote for galleries that compel you technically, artistically, emotionally or for whatever reason they compel you to vote. But if you can, try to refrain from car parts and 6 image galleries and casting 53 votes for the same persons galleries all in a row. Something tells me the world at large is just not compelled by these types of popular pics.

Happy Voting

I like quite a few of your pics. Which particular gallery do you feel is your best and I may oblige you? :)

Hey chuck...you got any other records in that collection of yours??

Don't mind Chuck...he is anti-webdev. Don't worry. I'll give you an extra vote for another gallery just 'cuz I do like the webdev in some applications. :D :!:

Cheers
