Ultimate bludger photo

Post Fri Jan 09, 2004 2:32 am

 Mate, I have found the ultimate all-time great epitome of "The Aussie Bludger" on one of our pbase sites. If you're not from Oz and not sure what a bludger is, you OWE IT TO YOURSELF to check out http://www.pbase.com/image/24794295 and the interesting definition of this truly unique Aussie colloquialism on http://www.anu.edu.au/ANDC/Ozwords/Dece ... udger.html

Let's see who can top this one. I'd be interested in starting a worldwide collection of "bludger portraits" or "a photographic essay on bludging" if anyone wants to take it on as a project, gimme a bell. Comments welcome. You'll have to aim high as the initial entry is a real pearler. Well done, bobbutler.

My hearty congratulations!!

If you're from another country (other than Australia), what terms do you have that match (or possibly surpass) the superb Aussie terms "bludge" or "bludger". How do you feel about bludging? Should it be heartily condemned :x or included in the next Olympic Games  (Possibly unfair, as Australia would have an advantage - after all, how many countries pay their able-bodied unemployed indefinitely)?

 Believe it or not, there are actually "third-generation" bludgers here but DON'T get the wrong idea about this great country - the ones that work do work as hard as those in any country!!

Let me know what you think but as "a picture is worth a thousand words", post your best "bludger" photo. The challenge is on!

Can you find them just by looking a pic of them? I can't quite tell here.

There's some more doosies in my family, but that would involve scanning and digging through some very old computer files. I don't have that sort of time tonight.. *drats*

Good ones. Took me a minute before I realised the old fella was lying on a park bench, minoltaman! (although a true bludger could probably fall asleep standing up - as the smoker pic demonstrates...ok, half-asleep!) You should try to get your b-i-l to try to go on the next Survivor, evisione! BTW, nice Harley photos, minoltaman.
