No longer a forum moderator

Post Wed Jan 14, 2004 3:09 am

Just a small note to point out that I have asked slug to remove my
forum moderator rights. He has done so.

Do not PM or email or drop guestbook messages on issues related to
the forum.

I will still be around in "Questions and Answers" and "Feature Request".

Thanks,
Srijith

I am sorry to see this Sri. It reminds me of the last days of another forum just before it was destroyed by massive posts of repetitive images by the same individual over
and over
and over
and over.........

I feel sorry for the members of pbase and the staff.

As someone just put it in a PM to me, another one bites the dust.

Thanks Don,
You Are A Peach

and I was the one who sent that note to Chuck.....

Sorry to see ya go

What we all must understand -- the moderator is NOT paid ! (to the best of my knowledge here)

This is someone who loves the forum -- someone who enjoys working with other people--someone who cares --- someone to take responsibility....

must be speaking of something else chuck, cuz that is how it went, you went and made inno with your friends and the moderator of rppa is still danny raphael, he never quit anything and what are you talking about? He created that forum, has always been, and probabley always will be the moderator of that forum. I would think.

link to danny's latest thread at http://www.retouchpro.com
...yup he is still the moderator and he did create this forum

Don you are sooooo dense.

Another moderator of another forum at RetouchPRO threw in the towel because they got so disgusted with YOU AND YOUR antics over there.

AND they are not a member of Innographx Don.

It is not about Inno, it is about you and your continual, unmerciful posts of long strings of images, one after another blowing everything else off the forum.

You are a peach Don. :D

Get it.

Don --- I know you are speaking to Chuck -- but I must take responsibility for "anotherone bites the dust"

I was not speaking of Danny, when I made that comment.

You are correct Danny is a moderator, with a very good and strong thread at Retouch.

Just for the record I did not mean Danny.

I only participated in pa and I inspired the critiques forum of Greg Couch's that they have now. Sound like a personal problem to me. I did not participate in the other forums save for a handful of threads.

Aah Sri....that is a shame.

It would help if members learnt :
a. What made you decide this? and if at all possible
b. What would it take to get you back?

You haven't really explained that in your note.
In your opinion how can things be fixed ? You probably know better than anyone else. Ciao for now.

Arif, he does not have time for all the complaints and censorship, or the ambition anymore, nor the stomach, I would guess. This is a pay site so I think someone is liable for slander on these boards. A moderator is surely needed.

btw, danny raphael, the all-time moderator of the photo-art forums at http://www.retouchpro.com is hanging some of my photos in his galleries as action samples. Danny is one of the best photoshop action creators on the planet. Check them out if you like.

I don't blame you, Sri, for throwing in the towel here. You had to go through my thread "deserving a vote" for at least two days and delete most of Don's posts and some replies to him that no longer made sense. This is quite a task, and not an enjoyable one at that.

Sadly though, without a moderator to clean up the threads and delete all the off-topic ranting that is put here day after day, I hate to think how this forum is going to look to newcomers or visitors. It makes PBase look like a bad unfriendly place, and that can't be good for business, which means it can't be good for our photo galleries either.

The forum is such a great part of PBase. I love sharing my new pics and galleries with the folks here and seeing what's new with their galleries. I like the new features and how you can get quick answers to a lot of photo questions since so many folks here are experts on this or that. So we need the forum. But we need the forum to be a peaceful and productive place, or it loses its value. Already I know of many people who say they won't even bother with it any longer, and some have started galleries on other sites instead of here. I feel bad too because I recommended PBase to all my members as the "best" place to put their galleries. Sigh.

Say, Jill, you seem fair and neutral. How about if you volunteer to take over as moderator? Do you have the time? I know Inno takes a lot of time for me each day since I have no moderators and go through it all myself every few hours. So it's not easy. But it is rewarding. So think about it! I know you are a responsible person who would do it right, if you do have the time and if Slug would agree.

Heart felt thanks for the support from everyone. To answer the question:

Bluntly put: reading and replying to over 20 PMs per day, enduring some mild name calling, 1~2 emails, 20 or so post deletions after wading through every single posts in all the forums, at the same time answering questions in other topics, maintaining Unofficial FAQ, coding personal projects based on Pbase - all for what?

As for how things can be fixed, a very interesting question especially considering that even the pbase team did not ask my views on that. I have my opinions but laying it down in the forum will do absolutely nothing, other than start new fights.

Just to clear the air, I have been involved (at various levels) in more viscious online flame wars and name callings than what we have seen here. So please don't attribute my decision to any particular person or group of people, for it is not that alone.
