First, I was pleased to see so many entrants to this week's contest, let's keep it up! Most people had entries I really liked, making this difficult as ever to choose winners. I was biased towards images of animals that depicted their faces and personalities.

Runners up, in no special order:

Jeff B., gorgeous on many levels
Image

Arnie P., what a sharp bee nicely captured doing work
Image

Allen H., Lots of owls in this contest, this one looks restful and content
Image

Jola D., this goat seems to be saying, wait a minute, what's back there?
Image

Markus G., amazing colors on this creature
Image

Luxun, I like the open beaks, quail singing here
Image

Carol P., daily visitor, looks like he/she is going to get something
Image

Alick S., who doesn't like these Macaques? this one is thinking about something. A close call for the second place category today: macaques!!!
Image

And the winners are:

Third Place: Walter K., inquisitive hummingbird and I know how hard it is to get these critters to sit still long enough for a sharp shot like this!
Image

Second Place: Hugh, cool hairdo and looking right at us. An unusual perspective.
Image

First Place: Jarek M., sharp and close up, what's the bird concentrating on? Kind of has a punk haircut. While I am not a fan of the unusual crop here, the intensity of the bird's look is what I was looking for in this contest, so I give the win to Jarek!

Thanks for second place. Great images everyone! I took the image at Angkor Wat in Cambodia. It struck me how the monkey was amused or looking through me - as if it were a reincarnated priest.

Thank you for the first place. It is unexpected, I agree, cropping could be better but the emu just poked his/her head above the fence, and I did not want to have it included in the image.
The photo was taken in the Healesville Sanctuary, if you are ever around Melbourne, I encourage you to visit this place to see the iconic Australian animals.

I will post the next competition shortly.
