Something Translucent

Post Mon Aug 09, 2004 5:52 pm

Something Translucent:
I'm pretty new to posting to this forum so I don't know if this one has been done yet.
The only other translucent thing I can think of would be a hummingbird but I don't have any of those. I will be curious to see everyones "translucent" images.

Jamtarts,,,that is fantastic! Very clever.
This appears to be a difficult subject, I was hoping to
get more response.
You nailed it!

These are all great you guys!
Maybe this wasn't as hard as first thought?

Here's one more that "might" qualify.

Ya know,,,I was just thinking about this.
I'm not sure but this thread is based on my fish pic which I called translucent. Is it really iridescent?
I think I got this all wrong,,,oops
Doesn't really matter I guess but I like words,,,and I like to know what I,m talking about and looking at! lol

Can someone sort this out? Any English teachers out there?

translucent
\Trans*lu"cent\, a. [L. translucens, -entis, p. pr. of translucere to shine through; trans across, through = lucere to shine. See Lucid.] 1. Transmitting rays of light without permitting objects to be distinctly seen; partially transparent.

iridescent
\Ir`i*des"cent\ , a. [L. iris, iridis, the rainbow: cf. F. iridescent.] Having colors like the rainbow; exhibiting a play of changeable colors; nacreous; prismatic; as, iridescent glass.
\Ir`i*des"cence\,Exhibition of colors like those of the rainbow; the quality or state of being iridescent; a prismatic play of color; as, the iridescence of mother-of-pearl.
