I am also a UK expat living in the US. I have been here 9 years and this is the first time I have realised that there is a difference between US and European calendar formats...

I've been living in the US now for 18 years and I didn't realise until a few people complained about the goofy way I'd done the months, and one person said thanks I've finally found a calendar in the non-US style, that there was a difference either. For me the weekend will always be a two day block at the end of the week not one day at the begining and one at the end. Perhaps the difference is because in Europe/UK we have a more "Hawking-esque" idea of the origins of the universe or something. Anyway for 2005 all the templates will be done both ways to keep everyone happy.

I was brought up to think that Sunday was the first day of the week, but that made no sense to me - why begin the week with a rest day??!!
