Have you seen a pip germinated inside a fruit?

REF: See Tangering Tangle on my pbase home.

We found this germinated pip inside a healthy tangerine. It was left for a while, then transplanted into soil and eventually into a small pot.

The question that I have: Is this a normal occurance for a pip to germinate INSIDE a fruit?

I grew up in a fruit growing region - but has never seen anything like this!
