Being flamed by Don Northup

In a number of posts about the political gallery foolishness going on here at PBase, I have, like others having given a few opinions. Just opinions. Now I have recieved three direct mails from Don Northup. I shouldn't expect a flame war for just stating my opinion about political galleries. This kind of childishness is fine on kid's forums but shouldn't be tolerated here.

I ask slug and emily to kindly tell Don to back off.

I agree. Don is not a positive for PBase. His latest political gallery was in the recent area for days. What does he do, add a picture and then take one out, then add that one back and take out another? Something’s fishy. He is definitely manipulating the system.

While, I am no fan of political advertisement galleries (for any side), I'm glad to see Don Northup's artistic galleries are back. I'm sure Don has worked hard to produce these galleries which have attained their high ranking in the popular galleries on well deserved votes (my opinion). When I checked Don's profile I found he had 13,500 photos on pbase. Even if you only uploaded 10 photos a day, for 365 days a year it would take 3.7 years to upload that many images so I'm not really surprised he's a regular figure in recently updated galleries.

Don is not the only person to have political galleries here. We all know that galleries at Pbase are used for things other than strictly photography. So I say, if one type of non-photography use is ok why not another? Especially in an important eelection year.

As for his ranking, he has worked hard to earn that. And if he updates galleries frequently that is ok as long as he goes by all rules of Pbase.

I wholeheartly agree, I personally think Don's real galleries are some of the best on PBase and I have voted regularly for his photos and galleries as he added even more to his vast collection. My commentary against political galleries was against ALL copy and paste one sided political opinion generators.

I brought this particular topic to this forum because I felt that three direct mails in quick succession was going to be the beginning of my site being flamed for me daring to speak against the validity of political cut and paste galleries on PBase. I want to try and stop it before it gets out of control as unfortunately so often happens on websites all over the net.

I'm not in favor of any type of censorship and any requests for their removal are asked to the pbase members who are engaging in this political one upmanship, not to the moderators.

Can't we just leave the politics to the blogs and forums?

Frankly, I don't see what all the whining is about. I choose not to go to the political sites and engage in word games. As a result, I've not been called any names nor have I received any emails. What is so difficult about that concept? Every single person who has gotten upset about the name-calling or rude treatment is someone who voluntarily sought out the political confrontations. It was not thrust upon anyone.

I've opened many galleries and saw right away I didn't like what was going on. It takes about one second to leave. There would be no discussions about banning politics, no deleted galleries, no hurt feelings, no whining to daddy slug to get further mired in the problems, no furor of any kind if everyone else did the same. It's a very simple concept we all(?) learned as a child....if you don't want to get burned, don't stick your hand in the fire. Duh!!

Tex has the right idea, if something offends you DON'T look at it! When I like something I look, if I DON'T like something I SOB..That's "scroll on by." Simple to do and causes zero problems.

In my experience, it starts out small then the flammer really gets going....I felt I wanted to try and nip it in the bud. Those three came in quick succession..another identifying feature of flamming. Listen, maybe nothing more will come of it....I can only hope.

I came to PBase to show off my and view other's photos....why does this lousy election have to permeate every single website on the internet?

Can't some of you internet freaks exercise any self restraint at all?

They say it's freedom of speech..but it's not really that...it's more like screaming of speech. Like a terrible two toddler who wants what he wants and screams and bawls until he gets it.

And if someone uses PBase in breach of the ToS they should be sanctioned.
