So if you go to popular photos and galleries and go through the list and you aren't there you know one voted.

On a gallery you don't.... but just one vote will probably get a gallery in the "popular galleries" (7 days) somewhere just below the #100 position (unless it is a gallery with blocked voting when any number of votes would not get in).
