Photojournalists ... an invite to meet & greet

Post Mon Nov 08, 2004 7:15 pm

Hello all.

I'd like to meet some of the photojournalists on this site and cross-talk, share experiences and ideas about our work and our world.

I strongly believe there is perhaps no other time in history when the work of the photojournalists is more important to the future of our society.

Please feel free to send me a note if you are interested in talking about the work and world of photojournalism.

Best wishes to all,

Matt Hevezi

I'm fairly new to photography, but am most interested in photojournalism, sports photography, and especially documentary photography.

Hi,

I am not a photojournalist, but I was wondering, should photojournalists be biased on the subject they are shooting?

Should they simply capture the moments and leave the rest to the viewers, or should the photojournalists shoot the photos at angles or techniques that, in a sense glorify, or whatever the case might be, to the situation?

Eric,

My feelings on this topic of PJ biases are that each person will have a point of view that will be part of their photography. To be 100% nuetral I think is very very rare. PJs in my humble opinion are somewhat responsible to their public to determine accurately what is happening before them and capture that in a frame or two. To omit reality to further a personal agenda I think is not very good for a PJ to do; but it does happen.

Thanks for responding all.

Mr or Ms Istanbul, are you in Turkey now? What is PJ work like in your country?
