Shawnee Peak ski area lightings at night picture /60 sec/

http://www.pbase.com/omoses/image/38603520/original

Location: Bridgton, Maine, US
Shot date: 03 Jan 2005 20:59

Foreground: lightings reflection in Moose Pond lake water; lake's ice
Background: Shawnee Peak mountain with some ski trails; land's forest; light fog

Recognizable: six major ski slopes, lift's poles /3rd slope from the right/, building in trees /right under lift trail/, trace of car's head lamps /two short parallel curves under building/, trees

Tech notes: Nikon D100 + MB-D100 on Gitzo tripod, Nikkor 17-35mm f/2.8D ED-IF lens with Nikon polarizing filter; ISO 200, 60 sec, f/22, +0.3 EV, NEF /Nikon RAW/;

Postprocessing: cyanotype process emulation with Adobe Photoshop CS /curves/

The cyanotype process was developed by Sir John Herschel in 1842. Paper is brushed with solutions of ferric ammonium citrate and potassium ferricyanide and dried in the dark. A negative is placed on the paper in direct sunlight for about 15 minutes. The parts exposed to light turn light blue and the other parts remain white. The paper is then washed in water and the white parts turn a cyan (deep blue) colour. Images produced by the cyanotype process are stable and bright blue with a matte surface.

Your comments are really welcome - thank you in advance!

I forgot to mention that I've done nothing special to appear these beams of lihgt around projectors. IMHO, it was intoruced by combination of lens optics /Nikkor 17-35mm f/2.8D ED-IF/, small shot's apperture /f22/, Nikon polarazing filter and diaphragmatic mechanism /with high number of blades/ factors.

Regards,
Oleg.
