Keep it up

Hello,

The images themselves have technical problems such as poor tonal range and colour balance, but you seem to have a good handle on the quality of light. Now just keep reading and shooting, trying to continually push yourself to spice up your compositions. Don't be afraid to experiment.

Cheers,

Alex

On the duck the bright light has virtual removed any detail from the rear of the duck. Pay attention to your Histograms.

It seems on both flowers you need a little more depth of field as you don't seem to have the entire flower in sharp focus.

I thought the lavender flower to by itself to rather uninteresting as there is not much detail for the eye to lock onto. On the other hand I found the white flower with the orange and black highlights to be a far superior picture.

Also, when photographing flowers, the flower MUST be perfect. If it has a few tiny flaws, they can be overcome with a little Photoshop work. Anything less than perfect will become immediately noticable as is the case with the lavender flower and the dark mark in the lower right petal.

I agree with the others, keep shooting and get your stuff on Pbase where it is much easier to show off your work.

Thank you all for your comments.
I was aware of the loss of detail on the duck but still thought it was a nice photo. I was suprised how it turned out as it really was just a snapshot.

Once again, thanks.
