Gene and Louis,

I like both of your cat pics for the same reason...the eyes are in clear focus, bright and well lit, while the background disappears into a soft blur. I like the way this style accents both the eyes and the sofffftness of a kitty kat! I also like to see a sharp all-in-focus cat too, of course, but this is a different look that has its own special appeal, IMO.

Cats are so cute to begin with, the only thing that could really ruin a cat photo IMO would be eyes that aren't in sharp focus or a face that isn't well lit, except in special cases like backlit Halloween silhouettes etc. Both of you seem to understand this, from the two pics you've posted.

No not mine. My in-laws down on the farm in Ohio (christmas shots). I used to be more of a cat person than now. I have dogs now. I guess youth favors independence and middle-age loyalty - Gene
