Seems to me like maybe we should reset the competition. Start over from #1, start by using the automated system (I don't understand why everyone's having such problems with it- worked 100% fine for me), and make the name coincide more with PBase, since PBase has "officially" adopted this competition and made an automated system in the first place.
With the automation, a msg would be sent to you as the winner, and if for whatever reason you can't make a new topic in 24 hours, it moves on the 2nd place (unless you send some sort of acknowledgement to the Mod and state why you can't start on time).
Anyone feel like this is a valid idea?

Maybe there should be a deadline...the winner should start the new contest within 3 days or something like that. If he or she fails to post a new contest within that time, then maybe the second place winner can take over. At least this way, the members can have some idea of when the new contest will be posted. If there is no deadline it can take a couple of days, a week, or more for the next contest to start. Just a thought...

All good ideas.

I don't know that Sirgay is having problems with the auto system, or just doesn't realize he took first place and should put up a new contest. I did fire off an email to him yesterday that he won and we're all chomping at the bit for a new contest, but no reply yet... and no new contest.

Maybe it's time for our second place winner to ask Pbase to redirect the New Contest button to him. Sirgay will still be listed as the winner, while Jim steps in and runs the next contest.

Whatever changes we decide to implement, I strongly suggest the person running contest...
1. Contact the first place winners and let them know they won
2. That they now have the privilege of running the next contest AND
3. If they choose not to run it, please get in touch with the second place winner to take over - or let someone know to notify the next person in line.

Just a suggestion.

Yeah I'm with Sandi...
I,personally, check often once the contests are locked to find out the winner. When I won, way back when, I made sure that within a reasonable (24hour) period I had the new contest started. That may seem like an unreasonable request to some, but honestly if you enter the contest you should have read what is the final date for submissions and therefore know when the winner should be announced. Subsequently, you should then follow the rules and have, as the winner, a new contest posted shortly thereafter.
I don't believe it's asking too much that if you submit a photo (or photos) to a S&T contest that you should be willing to check back frequently and, if the winner, post a new contest within a timely fashion.

Hello All,

I am very sorry for the delay! Still if I have a chance I would like to open the new contest.

And thanks again for congratulations!

Kind regards,
Sergey

I agree a 24-48 hour period really should be all you need.
It use to go a little quicker before Emily automated the process, which was nice.
The old way people just seemed to move a little quicker.
