To answer your question, you probably should post them smaller, those being the rules and all, but I think you may not be alone if you're not sure how to do it.

All you need to do is add /medium before the .jpg in you post.

Where you have:

[img]http://www.pbase.com/nigelgray/image/62000447.jpg[/img

You should have:

img]http://www.pbase.com/nigelgray/image/62000447/medium.jpg[/img

and it will come out like this:
