For the love of people and their culture with the ability to photograph them at their best. A photographer that's truely inspiring, I nominate: http://www.pbase.com/travellingdarren

My nomination...

Post Fri Aug 18, 2006 3:52 pm

I'll try to think of more for nominees, but for now Joel Dousset immediately comes to mind: http://www.pbase.com/entrelec/profile
Edit: He hasn't been a member for 1 year, but I'm nominating him anyway because I don't think it should matter.

Interesting compositions, cool perspectives, etc. I think it's shameful that his galleries have only gotten 53K hits.

Just a few of my favs from his galleries:

Another photographer I really, really like is Jannik Lindquist: http://www.pbase.com/janniklindquist

I'm nominating him because of the love, emotion, feeling and humor that I feel emanates from his shots. A few favs:

http://www.pbase.com/janniklindquist/image/58358904
http://www.pbase.com/janniklindquist/image/57462833

And finally, I won't shamelessly nominate myself, but as a newby to PBase (and photography in general) with a miserable 42,000 hits I welcome any visitors to my galleries:

There are so many great photographers on this site who's galleries deserve to be seen by more people. I really hope PBase can find a way to "spread it around" a little better in the future. I love this idea and think it's a great way to stir things up; please do stuff like this more often!

I think most people know that what makes popular photographers on Pbase is more to do with cliques than it has to do with clicks. There are a great deal of very fine photographers here whose images don't make it to the popular gallery, even although they may have more than 200,000 visits.

Rather than have this farce, why don't the people who make Pbase magazine just do what they are going to do anyway and pick their own personal favourite unknown?

I think there is some good stuff 'surfacing' as a result of this thread. There is certainly 'psychology' in what brings popularity and votes, but that is not for this thread.

Some peeps choose a low profile and may not upload too often and it makes them hard to spot.

One photographer who has caught my eye is suse, and her work is often refreshing

Just discovered this guy who works with film. His work just pours with emotion.

OK, he has 640,000 hits, but surely would be worthy for a future feature.

First, I consider Stu to be one of the finest photographers on here... but that's not why I'm quoting him. It's his ability to speak the refreshing truth with clarity and courage.
PS: y'all should click over to his galleries and have a look-see

A. Arif

http://www.pbase.com/aarif

He is well known on the dpreview Konica Minolta SLR and Sony SLR forums because of his great bird photos, insect macros and portraits. It is very strange to me that his galleries here don't get the attention they deserve...

Check out his galleries!
