Even if pbase prevented right clicking "save as" Polyvore have circumvented this by directly addressing the photo with an absolute link.
(It is also possible to get absolute address link for a right click protected image from the "view source" option on your website browsers toolbar.)

This is what I did I replaced one of my photos with a copyright stolen notice (now removed). this was my original picture....

The polyvore linked image did not change ( I have sent a copyright imfringement notice to them as well)

This is a copy of the email sent to pbase help desk (help@pbase.com)

....
Dear pbase techs,

Polyvore has infringed my copyright by linking to my photo at an absolute address on your pbase server.

I tried to replace my image with a new uploaded image which says "the image was copyright infringed by Polyvore".

Unfortunalely Pbase still keeps the oringinal image on its hard drive.

I think I have to delete my image and upload it again to get arround this.

look at http://i.pbase.com/o6/01/676001/1/82613 ... 00472.JPG#
which i replaced with a new image now at....
http://www.pbase.com/barry_2718/image/82613718

note: the 82613718 is the same but the url has a different absolute address

Can you please replace the original image (first absolute url) with image at second url.

The infringed image can still be seen at

We would like to express our appreciation to the members who sent us emails regarding the polyvore.com website. I forwarded the information to Slug. He was appalled at the blatant disregard for our member's work and the copyright laws. Slug has sent an email to polyvore.com requesting a complete removal of all PBase images. We aren't expecting them to hurry to fulfill our request, but at least they have heard from our administrators directly.

Hi.
Not that it will do much good, since it appears that polyvore (eat everything?) has based their whole site on the concept of copyright infringement, but I've attempted to send an email to them asking to remove all photos they've snagged from PBase.com.

I've tried to find a way to block image requests from their servers with no success.

Barry, even after removing your original image (http://i.pbase.com/o6/01/676001/1/82613 ... 100472.JPG) it still displays on their site, so they are storing the file over there once they fetch it.

Hopefully soon they'll get tired of hearing about PBase.com and come up with a solution themselves.

I tried using their Clipper tool (how they steal images) and it's telling me: Sorry! Items from pbase.com may not be imported at this time.

Anyone else try using the clipper and seeing that?

So it seems like they're doing a check now and not allowing anything else from PBase.com to be taken.

update: I received a response to my email:
Thanks for bringing this to my attention. We have blocked pbase.com from further imports into Polyvore. We are working on removing your images from Polyvore.com
Please allow a few days for this to be reflected on our site etc...

Sounds like it's been taken care of.

There's some progress already. There used to be 41 full pages of Pbase images, but now all that's left on page 41 is a single, sliced kiwi.

Wait until the other hosts realize what's going on. Photo.net, Filckr, Google/Picassa...there are thousands of their photos at Polyvore. It's made me wonder. If I give permission to someone to use my photo on their site, but their host is careless about copyrights...have I just flung my photo into public domain?

And how many different sites like Polyvore might there be?
Wow!

Polyvore is back up to 6pages of PBase images... some have been 'clipped' within the last few months.
I've sent them an email, but you may want to check for unauthorized copies of your images and file a complaint with them.
