Chuck, I know you cannot add the EF-S 10-22mm because they did not make it for the 10D (which sucketh, I know) but you should maybe consider a wide-angle (Sigma among others make them) and maybe one for portrait (35 mm or 50mm) to round out your arsenal. You would be surprised how valuable each can be.
Here is what a wide-angle can do for you:
See how the lines all converge? Doesn't it pull you into the picture?
And as far as a 35 or 50, you can get a 50mm f/1.8. Think about how bright that is!
You want to handhold shots, stop action and still be able to crop? Brighter lenses.
I love taking candids. The wideangle allows me to shoot sort of away from the subject and still catch them dead on. Yes, I do crop things and have not dealt with trying to straighten the distortion yet.
