I didn't know this either so I looked around a bit to figure it out -- Go to the popular Galleries page -- you will see the word "Photos" to the right of the words Popular Galleries -- click on the word "Photos", and it will show the popular single images instead of the popular galleries. The number of votes for each image will be listed in parentheses after the title of the photo.

I don't know how to read the total votes for a gallery.

Hmmm...Chuck, that's photo art, not technically just a "photo" so I wonder if these should be in "popular photos." Well, I can answer my own question...if enough folks vote an image into the pop list, guess it belongs there. We'll know better when votes in general get out of single digits...wayyy out of single digits!

But I have to agree that Shari's photo art gallery is one of the best!

I think this might make a good feature request...show the vote totals for pop galleries list as well as individual image list. Why don't you post the suggestion there?

Lastpogo, thanks for sharing "street bum"...one I have never seen. And there's no rush to start your gallery...I was a member for a year before I finally got around to putting up photos.

Shadepuppy, I've enjoyed that gallery also...good candid collection for sure. The pic of the M and F looking at each other is one of those "tells a story" pics that gets your interest...gotta love their expressions and stances.

I am happy to see so many of the pics recommended here by myself and by others moving up in the Pop Photo list. There are so many good photos on PBase but only so many slots in the pop list, so try to suggest only the very best most special fantastically excellent supercalifragilistic photos for votes. Sure, we'll differ on what is "super" but technical things like focus and lighting and composition and such should enter into it as well, I think.

You don't have to have a gallery to know a good photo when you see one. I don't know, Chuck, if we need to make rules about how many a person may post. If someone posts too many long lists or mostly mediocre choices, then we quickly learn not to bother looking at their selections. I think it's a very good idea to write a little teaser along with each, as some folks have been doing, to make it sound appealing and hint at what's there.

Did everyone see this pic in the sunrise/sunset thread? I love the way all the elements come together is just the right position, and it has great natural symmetry with everything just a bit off-center yet working as a whole to draw you right in. Just love this one...obviously.

how about a rule you have to have at least 50 photos at pbase to participate??
cmon, that is only two rolls of film...seems fair to me.

Since I made this thread, the rules about who gets to post what are up to me, right? And the only rule is that you should recommend just those pics you think are super-fantastic and the best of the best. If we all do that, then the numbers should take care of themselves...after all "the best" photos would by their very nature be rare.
