Some of these aren't opening for me tonite...little image icons not opening up, but I can still see most of the pics:

JChambers, love that first doggie pic!
Catson, beautiful sea lion shot! Yours too, Anna.
Gaocus, that second bird mug is a winner...what a beak!
Beef and JB, love those close-ups!
Evisione, great idea to post a dino mug!
Chuck, love that ape!
Sheila, superb photo of the spider monkey!
EJohn, I can see why you love Ollie...what a sweetie, and a great photo!
Andrys, that’s one happy looking duckling, love his “smile!”
Lisa, poor kitty...sure looks surprised!
Zip, really cute shot of a really cute doggie!
Rocket, really weird...great moth close up.
Minoltaman, interesting pic of a Dairy Queen bag. I like the expression
on that rodent-pig-looking animal...he looks so solemn.
Amin, what was that seagull saying to you?
Rphoto, wow, peekapoos sure have big eyes don’t they!
Mplonsky, that's a really terrific toad photo! Bravo!

Some of the pics in this thread are really good, and I'm going to go vote for a couple of them now. Animals are the greatest subjects, aren't they!

Here’s Phoebe’s mug;

Ray, I clicked "quote" on your post to see the url for your wonderful ape mug then pasted the url ( http://www.pbase.com/image/19933890 ) and went to the page so I could comment and vote for it. I saw that 8 others had also left glowing comments.

This is the kind of photo that should grace the "popular photos" all-time list, but it doesn't. I hope those who love it as much as I do will vote for it, and for other excellent photos they find. We've gotta start rewarding excellence and get that pop photo list looking its best for the newcomers...and so I can see more terrific photos that I've been missing. :)

Beef, I also liked your dripping wet swan close up, and Richard, the donkey nose pic is really cute and funny!

General comment: I don't think a lot of the pics scattered through this thread fit the "mug" category since they are not faces, but whole animals. There are so many pics here, don't you all agree that it would be nicer if folks would limit their choices to those that really FIT the thread name? These category threads would be more meaningful and fun if people didn't try to force a pic into the category when it really doesn't belong just so they could post as many as possible. It dilutes the effect of the thread.

phyllis, the moderator said this yesterday

This is "Show and Tell". Show more and talk less. Let your photos do the talking

Complete pics of bugs, animals, birds and everything else are posted all over the pages of this thread. MOF, you posted a freaken collage, your first post of the thread. On the collage is a pic of a complete cat. :!: :!:

btw, this seems strange
pyllis your words...
Beef, I also liked your dripping wet swan close up, and Richard, the donkey nose pic is really cute and funny!

How did you like beef's salty shot??

and this
Amin, what was that seagull saying to you?

I could go on, but I won't.

...and the strangest thing is the man that started the thread posted almost half a turtle

please do as the moderator says and post some pics and complain less

thx

Don, now that new bunch of fish pics are mugs. I like the last purple guy best.

That collage postcard you mentioned was full of horse mugs all looking right at you, so it's definitely on topic. But I don't want to argue with you, just pointing out that there are some way-off-topic pics posted here, and apparently you agree since you found a few also. Any decent photographer should know enough about the subject of a photo to place pics in the proper category. In my opinion, it's inconsiderate to viewers to clutter the thread with pics that, good or not, don't belong here.

Here's a mug I really love--my doggie! In this shot he's lying on my pillow, which he'll do whenever he gets the chance. He's so spoiled...he thinks that's his rightful place and I should be the one at the foot of the bed! :)
